They make life sound so easy and attractive. It is really hard not to fall for their claims, even though you know that you are smarter than that. What if this is the real deal and you miss out on it? Then you would really feel stupid. So maybe you go for it this one last time, and get ripped off. Now what? I have made a list of some things that you can do if you are a victim of a work at home scam to help make sure this does not happen to others.
1. Contact your bank, credit card company , whatever method you used to pay. They may be able to stop payment, but if they can't they can make sure no future charges are incurred.
2. If you fall vistim to a scam, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Make sure that you follow up on the complaint. Many people file and never follow up.
3.Write a letter, or call your attorney general and the attorney general in the state that the business is in. also alert the consumer protection agency. Get the name of the scammer into as many databases as you can so that they can be stopped.
4. Contact the National Fraud Information Center, if this was a get rich quick scheme and the USPS if you received the offer in the
5. Report the company to the internet crime complaint center. They work with the FBI and national white collar crime center. Make sure you report to them that you were a victim of internet
7. Warn others, you can start a blog or squidoo page for free and let others know to stay away from the company who ripped you
8.Forgive yourself for trusting that these people were honest. Remember that America was build by people taking chances. Some pay off and some don't. Learn from the mistake you made and move on. It won't do you any good to dwell on it or to beat yourself up. Everyone makes mistakes.
