It is known that using higher ISO settings increases sensor's response to light (decreases the shutter speed) but adds digital noise to an image. How critical is it?
I took 4 pictures of the cloudy sky with ISO = 50, 100, 200, 400. Please see the results below.

If you have a good monitor you can see that the noise is visible at ISO = 200 and higher. For ISO = 400 the picture becomes very grainy.
The noise can be seen better at higher saturation. On the pictures below I increased saturation to 60. You can see that the picture with ISO = 400 becomes very noisy.

Conclusion:
Use ISO as small as possible to minimize the digital noise. Remember
that using ISO = 200 and higher generates digital noise, which is hard to remove
even using Photoshop.
