Photographing flowers is not so difficult. Flowers can wait for a long time before you find the best position for taking a picture. However, to take a good picture of flowers is not simple. The main problem is the background. Grass, leaves, other flowers - all this can take too much attention and the main subject is hiding in the background. Look at a typical picture:

This wild flower is nice but the grass makes the picture not attractive. It is better to have a bluredr or monotonous background .

I like to take pictures of flowers with the sky as a background. I try to remove all grass and leaves out of sight, and try to put the camera as low as possible. Look at an example.

This is a rose from the Flower Garden in Saint Cloud, MN. I used the sky as a background.

Another example of making the nice background is presented by Dave V.

The background came out like that because of the lens he was using. With a F2.8 lens shot wide open
the depth of field is very small and the background becomes very dreamy. The darker (upper) part are shaded bushes, the lower (green) is just the grass.

Conclusion:
When you take pictures of flowers try to make a blurred background or use the sky as a background or open the lens to make the depth of filed as small as possible..
