A mini motorcycle is basically a smaller, cuter version of a regular motorcycle. Traditional mini motorcycles are usually equipped with 4-stroke engines that turn the rear wheel by use of a chain. While the engine used by mini motorcycles are similar to that of lawnmower motors, a regular lawnmower engine may not be used for assembling mini motorcycles. The newer models of mini motorcycles may...

When most people think of a Harley-Davidson the first image that comes to their mind is a loud, grumbling, large motorcycle, traveling with 1500 of their drinking buddies dressed in black with large beards following along. The 2008 Harley-Davidson VRSCDX Night Rod is the Harley that shatters the image. Dressed in black, and the motorcycle Dracula would most likely ride, the VRSCDX Night Rod is one...

Owning a Harley Davidson Motorcycle is a dream for many. It is an expensive vehicle and therefore, a luxury to possess. Most people secretly wishing to buy a Harley-Davidson settle for other lesser-known makes because they are usually beyond reach of purchase. Many opt to buy second-hand options because a bra-new bike may not be possible for them to purchase. So, if you are getting a nice Harley...

Two friends had a dream and while they worked together at a Milwaukee engineering firm they turned their dream into reality. We know their dream as - Harley Davidson. William S Harley and Arthur Davidson built the first 400cc single-cylinder engine in 1902. Joining them a year later was Davidson’s older brothers Walter and William A, and together they fitted the single-cylinder engine into the...

Harley-Davidson and the Hells Angels. Few pairings are as synonymous as those two names. The pairing of Harley Davidson and the Hells Angels is something akin to peanut butter and jelly, but sometimes it turns into oil and water. In other words, sometimes the two don’t mix. Since the formation of Hells Angels, Harley Davidson has been their motorcycle of choice, which hasn’t always thrilled the...

The infamous James Dean in the long-gone wildcard of a movie – Rebel without a Cause – could well be attributed with making the riding of a motorcycle a statement instead of a mere form of efficient transportation for the masses. Nothing comes closer to these two-wheelers when questions of fuel efficiency are coupled with the need to cover distances at speed comes into play. An automobile would be...

The 2008 Yamaha YZF-R1 is here! Born from MotoGP technology Yamaha claims the YZF-R1 is ” the most advanced open-class motorcycle ever built.” I must admit the R1 is one awesome looking motorcycle. The R1 has a liquid cooled 998cc in-line four cylinder powerplant, making more power than the previous versions. The Japanese company was well known for its musical instruments, but in 1955 it began producing motorcycles. It began with simple and inexpensive machines but has grown to its position as a powersports powerhouse, offering some of the best sportbikes, cruisers and off-road bikes on the market. It ranks second only to Honda as the leader among Japanese manufacturers.

A motorcycle battery provides additional power supply whenever the motorcycle needs more electrical power; it also functions as an absorber of irregular electrical surges in the motorcycle; and above all, it is the sole instrument that turns the engine on through electric starters, which is now widely-used in motorcycles. However, a motorcycle battery discharges at an average of one percent of...

As befits one of the most vital parts of your vehicle's engine, your spark plugs require replacement every 24 months or 30,000 miles to maintain optimal fuel economy and engine performance. You can save some money by doing it yourself. The interval varies depending on your vehicle’s make and model. A vehicle equipped with the newer platinum-tipped spark plugs can go as far as 100,000 miles before...

With the engine cooled, disconnect the spark plug wire caps where they connect to the plug inside the cylinder head. My advice is to very gently pull of the wire caps. On one set I yanked at the wire cap and stripped out the inside. This was dumb, but it allowed me to buy a nice set of red wires.

It is tempting to start a motorcycle and to ride off, but a few minutes of routine maintenance will go a long way in taking you the full distance of which your machine is capable. You do not need to tick off items on a sheet as jet pilots must, but a short mental sequence of things to check and to do will add to your enjoyment and safety as well. Remember to schedule your day, especially awakening...

While there are various ways of cleaning your motorcycles chain as well lubricating it, I prefer to use the good old kerosene (if not available then petrol) to clean the chain. A small brush dipped in kerosene cleans out most of the sludge. Although it is a bit time consuming, but it usually does the trick and leaves a thoroughly cleaned chain.

Throughout the twentieth century, motorcycles have seen some changes. In the end, however, the motorcycles are all operated in the same manner. First things first, you have to turn the motorcycle on. I recently had the pleasure of motorcycle riding instruction from a friend, Tony, a professional racer. He was an outstanding instructor and provided some great experience-based insight into the more intricate details of motorcycle riding. But, the one thing that stuck in my mind was his comment of "always look where you're going." I had always assumed that this is what I did, but I...

The sun is out, the road is dry and you are ready to ride. . . or are you? Besides worrying about absent-minded cagers and fair-weather riders you need to worry about sunburn on clear, sunny days.

It would be quiet other than birds chirping in the distance, a dog barking or maybe hearing small talk from the neighbors' open windows, but that would be about it. Within minutes that would all change. At first I would hear what sounded like the rumbling of a train on a...
