1. Today we create some cool rock texture that might applied in many different ways.

2. Create a new document 1024*768 pixel. Fill the background with black and apply the Noise Filer with this settings.

3. Make a new Layer, call this Layer Emboss. Create a lightning on the Emboss Layer(Using the Diamond Gradient Tool instead of the Linear Gradient Tool).

4. Now you might have something like this.

5. Now go to Filter-Stylize-Emboss and use this settings. Nice, isn't it. Those of you who are deeper in the Photo manipulation thing will see that this technique would by very nice in order to create some Blending Textures.

6. If you want a simple texture you're done. Those who want to know more keep on this tut. Make a new Layer (calling Rock) below this Layer (Emboss). Go to Filter-Render-and apply the cloud effect.

7. Go to Filter-Sketch-Bas Relief and use this settings. Detail 13, Smoothness 2, Light Direction: Bottom Left.

8. Now go to Image-Adjustments-Hue and Saturation and give this piece a color. Now you are hardly ready.

9. Just activate the Emboss Layer above and play around with the Blending modes. Maybe set the blending mode to Overlay and you're done. Looks like there is a split in a mountain landscape, right?
