In this lesson, I will explain to you how to create green orb, which fits excellently in your menu or header. For foreground color set #659800, take the Elliptical Marque tool and create the selection like it is shown on the picture below.

Step 1

Start a new document which ive used 640x480. Now use the colour #373535 for the forground and #5a5457 and go to the gradient tool and make sure that the colours are set, now drag from top left to bottom right and you should have and image like below.

Ok now we have done the background colour it is now time to grab the elliptical marquee tool and keep your finger on the shift key and drag down untill you get a shape simular to the image below.

Now create a new layer and press Ctrl and backspace. Now goto Layer/Layer Styles/Gradient Overlay and use the 3 colours from left to right #ff7ad7, #fd8ad7 and #fbe8fc and place them like the image below.

Now keep the Gradient box open and on the actual image drag it down and to the right like I have in the image below.

Now keeping your finger on the Ctrl key click the image in the layer box, now press p for the pen tool, make sure it is set to draw paths at the top left of the page and do a shape as shown in the image below.

Now right click and goto make selection and press ok, now select white as your forground colour in the colour pallet and grab the gradient tool and set it as white to clear in the top left as shown below (Its the 2nd from the top left.

Now create a new layer and from the top of the circle drag to the centre of the circle.

Step 6

Ok keeping on that layer keep your finger on Ctrl key and click the image on the layer below you, Now goto Filter/Distort/Spherize and set to 100% and press ok.

Grab the Elliptical marquee tool and draw an oval shape like the one below and grab the gradient tool and from the top of the oval shape drag to the bottom of the oval shape.

Now its time to add a little shadow in the bottom right of the orb,Grab the Elliptical marquee tool again and keeping your finger on the Alt key drag from the top right of the page to the lower part of the orb so that you end up with an shape like the image below.

Create New Layer and select your forground colour to #a41a78 and grab the gradient tool again and from about 2-3cms away from the shape drag to the far edge of your new shape
