Glowing materials are very useful to create light effects. For example a neon-light effect. This kind of material is a light-emitting material. It will create light and shadows like an Omni Light.

In this tutorial I will go through my usual workflow with simple steps (trying to make it as simple as possible), to build a scene from preparation phase of the project (Pre-Pro) to the final render.

I will summarize the workflow I used for one of my characters with lots of images and some print-screens directly from the applications used (Maya/Mudbox/Photoshop, etc ...), also at the end I will provide some info about tangent space normal maps so you could think of this tutorial as primarily normal mapping related stuff.

Photography has always inspired me; I love especially shots of nature and wildlife from magazines like The National Geographic. During a recent travel in the South East of Asia, I visited Sriracha Tiger Zoo in Thailand and I took many photos of all the animals living there. There is no better reference material to use than the one you personally create wink

In this tutorial i will try to teach you how to make realistic clouds in maya software. I hope you will enjoy it.

Particles are one of the greatest features in Maya. In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to use the particle instancer to create a fleet of spaceships flying across the planes. Also I'm going to show you how to use events to crash the spaceship.

in this tutorial I will show you how to create growing flowers from surface, the flowers will gradually randomly grow up and will retain their original status when they reach to growing limit.

I created this tutorial for use in my classes and most of my students found them to be helpful. I now decided to submit it to be published on the web hoping it can help others as well.

In this tutorial I want to show the making of the image "time is running", made with 3ds max 2008 and rendered with vray 1.50.SP1.

Once I have a rough idea of the technical specification and limits I start creating the main body of the character. In the case of this particular model, I created the body and head to start with. I kept the head as a separate model so that I could easily work on it separately and later export it separately for bakin

in 3d Max can be simple if you know what modifier to use in a particular mapping situation. Here at Neoscape we receive lots of source images of materials that are going to be used in the construction of a building and its site. We have to accurately interpret these materials from the swatches we receive into the final render. In this tutorial I will walk through common mapping problems, how to...

started to build it from some initial blueprints. I couldn't find much info on it except for a very basic-stage simple plan and section. Thanks to this, I was able to add a few personal details. The whole main structure and individual elements are mirrored by a central axis, so I centered the modeling around just one of the symmetries.

Before we began work on the L5 project, we spent quite a bit of time trying to find the right look for the imagery we were going to produce. The art direction was influenced heavily by the work of photographer Julius Shulman, the American architectural photographer best known for his work featuring icons of modernism like Pierre Koenig's Case Study #22 in Los Angeles. We also wanted to accentuate...

Lighting is one of the most important parts in 3D visualization rendering. It brings not only the look and feel for the image, but also helps to visualize the design in reality. Many artists will find themselves spending more time with interior lighting to make sure every detail in the room is lit perfectly. Exterior lighting is easier to set up but still challenges the artist.

There are many different ways of importing files to 3DS Max. Many people have their own methods, but you'll find the best process we've used via AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
